The air gets cooler. The days feel a little softer. The leaves begin to turn, and suddenly slowing down sounds a lot more appealing than keeping up.

Maybe that’s one of the reasons fall is such a good time to get away together.

Because sometimes, the best thing you can do for your relationship is simply change the view.

Outside Your Four Walls

At home, it can be surprisingly hard to rest.

There’s always something waiting for you…the laundry, the dishes, the project you haven’t finished, the email you should probably answer. Even when we have time together, part of our attention is often somewhere else.

A change of scenery gives us permission to leave some of that behind.

There’s something powerful about stepping outside of your normal routine and into a place where there is nothing that needs your attention quite as urgently.

You breathe a little deeper.

You linger over coffee.

You have conversations that aren’t interrupted by the next thing on the list.

You remember what it feels like to simply enjoy being together.

And we think every relationship needs more of that.

Fall Was Made for Slowing Down

Here in the North Georgia mountains, fall seems to arrive as an invitation.

Mornings become crisp enough for coffee on the porch. The forest begins changing from green to shades of gold, amber and rust. Evenings call for a fire, a long soak in the hot tub and nowhere else to be.

Take a long walk together on our private trails. Wander down to the year-round creek. Bring a bottle of wine back to your Hideaway. Soak in your wood-burning hot tub while the air turns cool around you.

Or don’t make a plan at all.

Sleep late. Make another cup of coffee. Sit outside. Talk. Read. Take a nap.

One of our favorite things about a getaway here is that you don’t have to fill your time to make it worthwhile.

Sometimes doing less gives you more room for each other.

A Different Kind of Fall Getaway

Of course, fall in Dahlonega is beautiful.

Our little Gold Rush town comes alive this time of year, and if you feel like venturing out, there are wineries, restaurants, coffee shops, mountain views and plenty to explore nearby.

But we also know something happens once you arrive at your Hideaway.
