The Story Behind Our Name

Sometimes when I mention our company name, LoveAdventures, people give me a funny look. In our sexualized culture, they raise their eyebrows and ask, “What KIND of LoveAdventure?” 

So we wanted to set the record straight. The name LoveAdventures actually came from a 2019 movie we watched together called “Light of My Life” starring Casey Affleck. The story follows a man who must protect his daughter by disguising her as his son after a plague wiped out most of the female population, including his wife. 

So, what does this have to do with love?

Turns out, it’s all about love. The movie is really an intimate portrait of a father’s love for his wife and daughter. And when the father speaks to his daughter about her deceased mother, he recalls how she would relish whatever they did together as ‘a love adventure’.  In the film’s final line, the daughter comforts her father by saying, ‘It’s a love adventure, Dad’. 

After the movie was over, we looked at each other and said “you know, we are on a love adventure too.” Such a tender moment to describe a very difficult season that we had just walked through together. Vowing to approach our marriage differently going forward, those words were part of a new chapter in our relationship —  and words that birthed the name of our new company.
